Joanna Carnie – Chair
Jo has been running since having children around 20 years ago, but got more serious 6 years ago when she joined a running club. Jo went on to take part in regular road and trail races over distances between 5km and marathon. She prefers the half marathon distance on road or trails but also loves the atmosphere of a big city marathon.
Jo has previously set up and developed a work-place running club over several years and enjoyed supporting people as they built up their endurance, strength, speed and enjoyment of running going from from couch to 5k to 10k.
She appreciates the physical and mental health benefits that exercising and challenging yourself has delivered. Not only to herself, but to others that she has trained with and she is keen for as many people as possible to reap the same benefits and to feel the joy that running with others can bring.
Her goal for the future is to keep on pushing hard and developing as a runner as well as combining running with yoga. Yoga is also important to Jo and she feels is a key element to injury prevention.
